Tally Prime Vs Tally.ERP 9 – Part 1

Difference between Tally Prime and Tally.ERP 9

Startup Screen:

  1. In Tally.ERP 9, Company info menu will be displayed or Preloaded with an existing company.
  2. Data Status not available on Screen.
  1. In Tally Prime, Select Company Screen will be displayed with following options.
  • Create Company
  • Select Remote Company
  • Specify path
  • Select from drive
  • List of companies residing in default directory.
  1. Data Status such as Migration Required (From Order version) or Repair Required (For Corrupted Data).

Company Creation:

In Tally.ERP 9, a new Company can be created with or without data security. That is, Tally Vault and Security Control options are placed in company creation screen.

In Tally Prime, at first a new company is created without any data security. Security can be assigned from Top Horizontal Menu Bar. That is, Tally vault, Security options are available in Top Menu Bar.

Features:

In Tally.ERP 9, any Feature can be enabled to company whenever required by pressing F11: Features.

In Tally Prime, F11: Features option can be used just like Tally.ERP 9 as whenever required. But by default, Company Feature screen is shown after new company creations which enable the user to activate the features at beginning itself.

By default, Basic Accounting Features like Bill wise, Inventory Features like integrate accounts with inventory and GST in Taxation Feature is enabled.

Gateway of Tally:

In Tally.ERP 9, any master can be created either in single or multiple mode with create, display and alter options. That is, for creating a ledger.

Gateway of Tally > Accounting Info > Ledger > Single ledger > Create

In Tally Prime, Any Master can be created from create option. That is, for creating a ledger.

Gateway of Tally > Create > Ledger.

Note: For altering a ledger, Gateway of Tally > Alter > Ledger

Voucher Entry:

In Tally.ERP 9, to change voucher mode of payment, receipt and contra from Single Entry Mode to Double Entry Mode (BY / TO Mode), press F12 Key, set No for “use single entry mode for payment / receipt / contra vouchers?”.

Ctrl + V shortcut key is used to toggle between invoice mode to voucher mode for purchase and sales voucher in Tally.ERP 9.

In Tally Prime, Ctrl + H: Change mode option is used to toggle between single entry mode to double entry mode for payment, Receipt and contra voucher.

For purchase and sales voucher, same Ctrl + H: Change mode option is used to toggle between Item Invoice mode, Accounting Invoice mode and As Voucher mode.
